My one's own flesh of 4 will be going to Atlantis in the Bahamas. I would like to do more than just be at the resort, even though I know we will love it there. I want to visit some beaches and snorkle on some of the smaller ( if possible uninhabited
There's an rig at the British Colonial Hilton that rent Panga's. Not fast, but they will get you to some of the nearer islands.

I have been researching places to keep in Nassau. Most are large resorts that have mixed reviews and are very expensive.
